Introduction: The breast Cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. Early diagnosis and treatment of its can significantly reduce its mortality; therefore, the aim of this research was to Investigating the relationships between breast cancer screening based on Health anxiety and cancer literacy with the mediation of psychological resilience.
Methods: The research method of this study was descriptive and correlational, and the statistical population was all women over 40 years old who referred to mammography centers of Rasht city in 2022 that 300 people were selected by convenience sampling method. To collect data, the breast cancer screening mammography questionnaire, the health anxiety scale, the breast cancer awareness scale, and the Psychological Resilience scale were used. The gathered data were analyzed by path analysis using SPSS23 and Amos18.
Results: The results showed that cancer literacy (β=-0.11), illness anxiety (β=0.38) and resilience (β=0.25) has a direct effect on breast cancer screening. The direct effects of cancer literacy and illness anxiety on resilience was significant. Furthermore, the cancer literacy (β=-0.17) and illness anxiety (β=0.25) has indirect effects on breast cancer screening via resilience (p<0.001). The model fitness indexes also showed that the hypothesized model has a good fit based on the data (RAMSEA=0.056).
Conclusion: These results show that disease anxiety is related to increasing breast cancer screening, but health literacy is related to decreasing breast cancer screening. Psychological resilience as a mediating factor can moderate the effects of disease anxiety and health literacy on breast cancer screenings.
