Abstract: (49 Views)
Objective:
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between event centrality and post-traumatic growth, with the mediating roles of resilience and rumination, among women diagnosed with breast cancer who were referred to Omid and Imam Reza hospitals in Mashhad.
Method:
This cross-sectional study employed a structural equation modeling approach. The statistical population consisted of women with breast cancer who visited Omid and Imam Reza hospitals in Mashhad during the year 2023–2024. A total of 110 participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Event Centrality Questionnaire by Berntsen and Rubin (2006), the Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory by Tedeschi (2006), the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (2003), and the Rumination Questionnaire by Cann et al. (2011). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 25 and Smart PLS 4, employing descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling.
Results:
Resilience served as an effective mediator, facilitating the relationship between event centrality and post-traumatic growth. Findings related to rumination indicated that deliberate rumination could indirectly influence post-traumatic growth by affecting resilience, whereas intrusive rumination did not show a significant effect in this regard.
Conclusion:
Overall, resilience plays a key role in facilitating post-traumatic growth among women with breast cancer. Deliberate rumination may indirectly influence post-traumatic growth by enhancing resilience.
