Abstract: (599 Views)
Objective: The present study investigated the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Types of pornography scale (TPS) among the general population.
Method: This is a descriptive study. A total of 318 males and 182 females (with an average age of 23.55 and a standard deviation of 5.07) were selected using the Convenience sampling method. All participants responded to the scales of Types of Pornography Scale (TPS) and Problematic Pornography Use Scale (PPUS). Data were analyzed in SPSS v. 23 or LISREL v. 8.8 software using Lawshe method, Confirmatory and Exploratory Factor Analysis, Pearson correlation, Cronbach's alpha and Omega.
Results: The findings obtained from the psychometric analysis showed that this questionnaire has good content validity. The initial 3-factor model of the tool was not validated through confirmatory factor analysis. Instead, an exploratory factor analysis led to a revised model with 7 factors. Cronbach's alpha and Omega of this scale was 0.87 and 0.64. The convergent validity of this scale also showed through correlation with the Problematic Pornography Use Scale, and results showed a positive correlation with most subscales of problematic pornography use.
Conclusion: The present study’s findings showed that the Persian version of the Types of Pornography Scale (TPS) has sufficient reliability and validity to measure the types of pornography among the Iranian population and is suitable and recommended for use in research related to pornography.
