Functional enuresis is one of the most prevalent cases referred to child psychiatric clinics. The following results were obtained while studying 875 cases of enuresis at Esmaili psychiatric center from February 1983 to February 1991, over a period of 8 years. The incidence of functional enuresis is more prevalent among boys as compared to girls, the ratio being 4.5: 1, and incidence of primary enuresis is signifiantly higher than secondary enuresis. The rate of co-existence of epilepsy with enuresis is negligible. Furthermore, enuresis is more prevalent in larger as compared to smaller families.
