اهداف شواهد جدید بر نقش مؤثر عوامل فیزیولوژیکی، شناختی و هیجانی در کیفیت رابطه میان زوجین دلالت دارد. هدف این مطالعه بررسی رابطه بین شخصیت بامدادی‌شامگاهی، انعطاف‌پذیری شناختی و تنظیم شناختی هیجان با رضایت زناشویی در زنان میانسال بود.
مواد و روش ها روش پژوهش از نوع همبستگی و جامعه آماری شامل تمام زنان متأهل میانسال (۴۰ تا ۶۰ سال) ساکن شهر مشهد بود. از بین مناطق شهرداری، منطقه ۱ به عنوان نمونه به شیوه تصادفی انتخاب شد و از این منطقه ۲۱۱ زن با استفاده از روش نمونه‌گیری سیستماتیک انتخاب شدند. هریک از شرکت‌کنندگان این مطالعه، فرم رضایت زناشویی انریچ، پرسش‌نامه انعطاف‌پذیری شناختی، پرسش‌نامه بامدادی‌شامگاهی و نسخه‌ کوتاه پرسش‌نامه نظم‌جویی شناختی هیجان را تکمیل کردند. داده‌ها با استفاده از آزمون همبستگی پیرسون و تحلیل رگرسیون چندمتغیره تجزیه و تحلیل شدند.
یافته ها نتایج رگرسیون چندمتغیره نشان داد زیرمقیاس‌های ادراک گزینه‌های مختلف، ادارک کنترل‌پذیری و نمره‌ کل انعطاف‌پذیری شناختی توان پیش‌بینی رضایت زناشویی را به صورت مثبت دارند (P<۰/۰۰۱). علاوه بر این، سهم شخصیت بامدادی‌شامگاهی در پیش‌بینی رضایت زناشویی معنادار بود و بامدادی‌بودن زیاد با رضایت زناشویی زیاد همراه بود (P<۰/۰۰۱). همچنین نتایج نشان داد ملامت خویشتن، نشخوارگری، فاجعه‌سازی و ملامت دیگران، به نحو منفی (P<۰/۰۰۱) و پذیرش و دیدگاه‌گیری به نحو مثبت (P<۰/۰۵) رضایت زناشویی را پیش‌بینی می‌کنند.
نتیجه گیری یافته‌های این مطالعه ضمن گسترش ادبیات پژوهش، لزوم توجه به ویژگی‌های فیزیولوژیکی، شناختی و هیجانی در برنامه‌های ارتقای روابط زوجین و نیز مشاوره پیش از ازدواج را برجسته می‌سازد.
