Abstract

Objectives: This project assessed the validity of integrative hierarchical model of anxiety and dep-ression by Brown, Chorpita, and Barlow. Through this appraisal, structural relationships were assess- ed between key features of anxiety and depressive disorders and the dimensions of tripartite model of anxiety and depression.

Method: In this project, using the findings collected from 255 outpatient subjects with the diagno- sis of anxiety and depressive disorders, first, via Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Validity of five factor model of DSM-IV anxiety and depressive disorders and validity of tripartite model of anxiety and depression were assessed. Next, to select the best model, the three level structural model of Brown et al., was compared with the rival models via Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).

Findings: Findings supported the discriminate validity of five factor model of DSM-IV anxiety and depressive disorders and tripartite model of anxiety and depression. Amongst various struc-tural models evaluated, the best confirming  was the one in which higher order factors, the negative and positive affects influenced significantly the features of anxiety and depressive disorders in an expected manner.

Results: The discriminating hierarchical model is confirmed considering the limitations of the pre- sent study.

Abstract

Objectives Despite the importance of obsessive distrust as a common type of relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder (ROCD), there is no suitable scale to measure this structure in the Iranian population. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the obsessive distrust inventory (ODIS) for Iranian college students
Methods In this descriptive psychometrics study, 365 married students from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in 2021-2022 participated. They were selected using a convenience sampling method. The internal consistency of the Persian ODIS was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Construct validity was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Depression anxiety and stress scale-21 (DASS-21), partner-related obsessive-compulsive symptom inventory (PROCSI), and obsessional compulsive inventory – revised (OCI-R) were used to evaluate convergent validity.
Results The CFA results confirmed the single-factor structure of the Persian ODIS. The convergent validity assessment showed the significant positive correlation of the Persian ODIS with the scores of DASS-21, PROCSI, and OCI-R (P<0.01). The Cronbach’s alpha for the overall scale was obtained as 0.94
Conclusion The Persian ODIS has acceptable validity and reliability for the Iranian population. It can be used in clinical and research fields to screen, diagnose, and monitor obsessive distrust in ROCD.

Abstract

Objectives Despite the importance of sexual mindfulness for the sexual satisfaction of couples, there is no suitable tool to measure it in the Iranian population. Therefore, it seems necessary to have a valid and reliable measurement scale. This research aims to investigate the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the sexual mindfulness measure (SMM) for the Iranian people.
Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2022-2023 on 366 Iranian married people. The Persian versions of the SMM, the five-facet mindfulness questionnaire (FFMQ), and the marital sexual function scale (MSFS) were used to collect data. Cronbach’s alpha was calculated to assess internal consistency. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to examine the factor structure. Convergent validity was evaluated using the MSFS and FFMQ. Regression analysis was employed to test the predictive validity. Data analysis was performed in SPSS software, version 25 and AMOS software.
Results The CFA results confirmed the two-factor structure of the Persian SMM (awareness and non-judgment). The findings for the convergent validity showed that the SMM score had a positive and significant correlation with the MSFS and FFMQ scores. Cronbach’s alpha was 0.83 for the awareness subscale and 0.71 for the non-judgment subscale.
Conclusion The Persian SMM has suitable psychometric properties and can be used in research and clinical fields related to sexual functioning and mindfulness in Iran. Also, therapists should pay attention to sexual mindfulness as an important factor to improve the sexual function of married clients.
