Prevention of disabilities and handicaps, including mental relardation and low intelligence, is one of the important aims of health programmes. Therefore, understanding the causes of such disabilities could reduce their incidence. A cause of low IQ and mental retardation is prematurity and this could be the result of low age of mothers at the time of pregnancy. This study investigates the relationship between the age of mothers and their children's IQ. Subjects were 110 children between 5 to 15 years and their mothers who were between 13 to 20 years. Pearson corellation coefficient showed a significant relationship between age of mothers and IQ of their children.
