During the past three decades, there have been several studies concerning the efficacy of drugs and behavior therapy for treating obsessivecompulsive disorder. The high rates of relapse, and number of patients withour any improvement has turned clinicians attention toward the cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) for the treatment of this disorder.

This article has examined the efficacy of cognitive behavior therapy for three refractory obsessive-compulsive patients. Since the content of obsessive thoughts are culturally related, useful techniques are suggested for the treatment of Iranian clients.

The results revealed that CBT was effective in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder.
